Working.....

Working....

Working......but need time to get away with the hubby.......so, bring your work with you.  I'm fortunate that I can do just that.

The hunting camp is peaceful, it was never meant for me to bring my work with me.  But, sometimes it's unavoidable.

So, instead of staying in my office from hours on end to complete reports, I typed my fingers away at the camp for a few days.

Fortunately, it was rainy weather the couple of days I worked.  So I didn't miss much.
I did have a little company, Phoebe was always at my feet......
But even she got bored with me just typing.....

Today, it's time to go back home.  Monday morning comes early and with it returns the routine.

But wait!!  Inspiration was overflowing this weekend...........I'm about to tear down the walls of this creative box and add a bit more interest to my stuff.......

Embellished Decor!!!

It's official.....We have been open since May.  It took a while to get inventory in the shop, but we're getting this little project together.
I've been blessed with a few amazing ladies in the shop.  One that loves to decorate, and one that loves to do the 'tech' and organizing stuff.
While I just love to junque shop, sand, paint and 're-create'.....It's working out fine.
Business is slowly getting there.......Patience my dear, patience.
Event rentals is growing as well.  We'll be at the Bridal Expo in October.....big step, leap of faith....

Embellished Decor

Embellished Decor

My little 'diamond in the rough'.  I rented the left side of this building for my new adventure 'Embellished Decor'.  It's a great little location on the opposite side of the retail side of town.  It has a very busy cupcake shop on the side and a barber shop on the other side.  Lots of traffic on the road.   The space has an inviting front porch that lends to the attractiveness of a vintage/upscaled shop.

'Embellished Decor' will have event rental decor and upscaled/vintage/altered home decor.  What a combination, but the two will look great together.    Below is a picture of the  interior......a blank canvas at this time

I'll post pictures of the interior once I'm done painting and adding archetechy stuff.

Some pictures of items that will be available, such as carnival glass, birdcages, tarnished silver decor and candelabras.......Just a 'little sampling' of things fun and vintage.

Now off to have shelves built and refinish some furniture.....

Out on a Limb

Out on a Limb.....

Anyone who really, really, really know me, really knows that I can't keep still......I'm not the one who will let grass grow under my feet.  I really enjoy being a nurse......but the creative side of me is screaming to 'let loose'.  So.....'Embellish' is born out of a necessity to do the fun stuff in life.  I recently heard that Julia Child didn't start her culinary career until 52.....I'm there Julia!!!!

I've spent years collecting, altering, re-designing, creating home decor items used in  my home and also loaned to numerous weddings for friends and family.  It's time to take this show on the road sort of speak.....

The only other outlet I have is a craft booth at Southdown Arts and Crafts show which is twice a year.  Saturday will be my fourth show in a row and I can't wait.....

So, for the next few weeks, I'll be writing about opening this shop.  It will offer decor for social events as well as house my 'Re-Creation Therapy' junque.

Can't wait to start this new adventure.  One that includes my husband as well.  He built this cute primitive style cabinet.  The 'door' was a wall hanging.......oh well....re-create, that's what it's all about.

..Lord knows that I have to have my hand in something...Can't keep an old glass cabinet door the same...can I?

Life is forever changing....I tell people...'Keep Up!!'......

Primitive Style Cabinet

Primitive Style Cabinet

One advantage of being married to a carpenter......he can build things.  I wanted a primitive style cabinet to put in my booth at Southdown.   So, while at the camp, he built me one!!  I had the 'door', so with just a little painting it was the perfect compliment to the piece.  A little paint, a little finish and done!

Not that great of a picture, not a great background either.  But hey, it's in the garage for now.
