Christmas Cactus

The beauty of a Christmas Cactus... I always look forward to these plants in bloom during the holiday season. I have three that are in buds right now, just waiting to explode with color. This picture is the same plant, last year....I'm waiting in anticipation...I'd take a picture of the ones in buds, but it's raining outside and I'm not too happy about that....maybe later today, or tomorrow.

Tags, tags and more tags

Tags, tags, and more tags......

I am having a great time making these tags for Christmas presents......no, I'm not finished with shopping, but I do have most of the tags ready!! These are just plain and simple shipping tags, tea stained, wine stained, glazed, stamped and glittered.....It's crazy, but I work a little bit, stamp tags, work a little bit, stamp tags.......therapy....now you get the idea...Enjoy your holiday season, Jesus would not want us to be all stressed out celebrating his birthday. He did the stressing for us! Enjoy, and I'll take a little bit of my advice as well....

I miss this one

Hello everyone. Just another picture of something that I re-created in the past. This was actually a lamp base that I scrounged and found at a local Goodwill store in the New Orleans area. Looked like a side table to me when I found it. My great and talented husband who has extraordinary wood crafting skills, made the table top. After tons of gorilla glue and bronze paint to the top, I had a gorgeous table! The base just had to be touched up a bit. However, with all things, it succumbed to the law of gravity, fell over and broke......Now, all I have is this picture, but great memories of a triumphant junque hunt and re-creative challenge....

My first post...

Wow, this is my first post...I feel like I am walking in the land of unknown. As an introduction, I love to fix up, re-create junque. Definition: Junk: something you throw away. Junque: Artistically promising elements!! Above is a chest that I fixed up a couple of years ago. I put it in my antique shop booth and sold it. I hope the owner enjoys it as much as I enjoyed fixing it up. I originally bought it at the Salvation Army. It was repainted an aweful yellow when I found it. I couldn't wait to give it a new look. Later, I promise to get my camera out and take pictures of some cute label/gift tags I am working on. Until then, I'm trying to get my very talented sister to join the blog world as well. See you soon!
